Grid computing
Abstract
Today, the synergy between computer science and other branches of science is changing the way people think about computing. Researchers are beginning to apply the latest technologies on a wide scale to solve ever larger problems. Access to remote resources is becoming more the rule than the exception. Having support and interest from the applications, computer scientists are making great progress toward technologies such as Grid computing to devise scalable, robust solutions that enable sophisticated, large-scale, widelydistributed analysis and collaboration. Major projects are being funded both in the United States and in Europe to foster collaborations between Grid researchers and scientists from other disciplines. The US Department of Energy is building Grid tools for data intensive science to support high-energy physics experiments, such as the Compact Muon Source, through the Particle Physics …
