Interference based spin wave switching in the ferromagnetic cross.
Abstract
Spin wave interference in ferromagnetic micro-and nano structures is potentially important for spin wave based logical and signal processing devices. In this work we demonstrate operation of the interference based spin wave switch in which output spin wave propagation direction, amplitude and phase are controlled by the phase of another spin wave. Interference of 2 spin waves excited in two different arms of the ferromagnetic (CoTaZr) cross was measured using spin wave propagating spectroscopy technique. Constructive (and destructive) interference in the output arms of the cross in different arms of the cross is achieved at different phase shifts of the input waves. For certain phase offsets of the input waves the interference is constructive in one arm of the cross while destructive in another and vice versa thus resulting in phase controlled spin wave switching. We model spin wave scattering and discuss phase …
